Tonight Kelly and I watched a special on a young man who is now in San Diego who is the son of one of the head leaders of Hamas, which is the military group who the Israelis are fighting as you read this.  Though that is enough to write about the story does not stop there.  Mosab Hassan Yousef while imprisoned in an Israeli prison began to realize something was not right with the Islamic faith and later as he was walking through Jerusalem a missionary asked him to come and read the Bible and he did, and through reading the words of Jesus “Love your Enemy” his life began to radically change.  Please read his story!  It is   better than the paraphrase that I just gave you.  Click here to read Joseph’s Story or the Fox Logo above.  I wanted to spotlight this story because now he lives here among us as a fellow Christian that even Al-Qaeda have targeted to die! He is applying for protection here in the states and is being supported until he is allowed to work here in the U.S by a local church Barabbas Road! Which is a church plant that is apart of the SBC organization Vision San Diego who is a supporter of Elevate.  My heart really began to weep for this man for the battle that he is facing with where he comes from and where he is heading with the Christian faith.  During the segment he mentioned how he prays for his family back in Palestine, and I believe we all should join him in doing so.  You don’t realize how much you take your faith for granted until you hear a story like Josephs.  Hearing this story was just a breath of fresh air as a church planter who longs to see fruit of my labor!  Considering it only took one faithful missionary to give a platform for Christianity to speak again through a risk and impossible odd.  I feel this way everyday, but through this story God is still teaching me faithfulness.

Joseph my heart goes out to you and your family and the road that you have ahead of you and I will do everything in my power to help you and your walk with God!

  1. Unbelievable story- just amazing. I sat and cried while reading the transcript. I will be praying for him, and continue for you. Thanks for the blog. I like it! Be encouraged, Chris. It sounds like you are right where you are supposed to be!
